General Information ~ 2008 Show
Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Arena

Our third Alpacas in the Ozarks Halter and Fleece Show has been moved to the Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Arena in Fayetteville, Arkansas (from the Clarksville, AR area).  The arena is conveniently located on the University of Arkansas Campus approximately one mile off Interstate 540.  This entire arena is climate controlled.  It has a packed dirt floor, very large seating area, three large community classrooms for our seminars, a concession area, and a large foyer for some of our vendors.  Our visitors will be welcomed as they enter the Vendor Area in the foyer.
The arena has an open foyer with excellent lighting, which will provide a nice welcome for our visitors as well as a superb display area for some of the vendors.  For visitors, there is a huge, comfortable seating area.  For exhibitors, there is a packed dirt floor.  For all, there is a nice concession area with excellent food and refreshments.  For seminars and our catered event Saturday night, large community classrooms are available.
We invite all farms to help make this a quality show.  We anticipate the show will be a Level II, exhibiting over 200 alpacas, which will represent a significant increase over our last show. To enhance your show experience, giving you an opportunity to take home many ribbons from the Alpacas in the Ozarks 2008 Show, we will present ribbons to the first through sixth places in each class.
Experienced AOBA Judge Kevin O'Leary will judge the Halter and Fleece Shows as well as the Youth Obstacle Event.

Show Judges

Kevin M. O’Leary
Kevin and his partner Deborah Shields, along with her folks, established RiverView Alpacas in 1997. RiverView is now home to 50 alpacas.
Committed to the alpaca industry, Kevin has served on various AOBA committees including the Affiliate, the Nominating and the National Conference Planning. He is currently serving on the Judge Advisory Committee.
Kevin is one of the founding members and President of N. E. Alpaca Tours, a non-profit corporation that organizes the North American Alpaca Show. To date, N.E.A.T. has donated over a quarter of a million dollars to alpaca research and education.
Having successfully completed the AOBA Judge Training Program in 2004, Kevin received certification in halter, fleece and performance judging for both Suri and Huacaya alpacas.
Kevin is currently judging alpaca shows throughout the country and is involved in speaking, consulting and in the organization of alpaca shows and auctions.

Registration & Forms
Sign up early, stalls will be assigned accordingly, first come, first served.  If you want to be located next to another farm, during online registration BOTH farms must clearly state the name of the farm next to which they wish to be adjacent.  THIS REQUEST CANNOT BE MADE ON DAY OF CHECK IN.  Stalls are 10’ x 10’, and a maximum of three adult alpacas per stall will be allowed.  The floor is a packed dirt floor.  Since straw is not permitted due to facility fire codes, we suggest a plastic mesh mat.  No farm displays will be allowed in the aisles due to fire codes.  Display stalls are limited to one per farm, and are available for the same price as an animal stall.  Stall panels are supplied by Wade Presley of Dryco Skylights, Inc.

All alpacas must be registered and entered in the name of the current owner on the ARI Registration certificate.  A "Buyer’s Permission to Show" form showing the owner as listed on the ARI Registration certificate must be attached if an alpaca has been purchased and the transfer has not been completed.

Herdsire Breeding Auction
Our Herdsire Breeding Auction will feature some of the most elite males in our region.
We encourage farms to donate breedings for the auction. As a Thank You to all farms donating breedings, 60% will be returned to the breeder while only 40% will go to the show. Starting bids will be $1000.00 (minimum bid increments of $100), a great starting price as you will see by the pictures and descriptions of these quality males (on this page as they are received). The 60% will enable the herdsire owner to insure the female will be well taken care of and insure she is confirmed pregnant without undue cost to the owner.
Arrangements for delivery and contracts should be made between the owner and the successful bidder immediately after the auction closes.
A picture and a 150 word description will appear here on this website as they are received.

 FRA Lucero

Lucero's first cria are hitting the show ring and they are making a statement! Judges comment on his cria's fleece having soft handle, brightness and consistency of crimp. Lucero is a very pre-potent male passing his wonderful genetics on to his offspring. This male carries the genetics of PPPeruvian Misty Maiden and 4Peruvian Black Magic on his sire's side and the Peruvian D'Amboise and PPeruvian Leon on his dam's side
His awards from many different judges speak for themselves. Lucero is now wholly owned by Copper Hill Ranch.
